I just love this city and more importantly thekind of people here.

Commuting to a workplace in metro, I heard a girl, sitting besides me with headphones plugged in her ear and singing a song loud enough for me to hear it. The song was from an old hindi movie and was quite popular. It was

"aap jaisa koi meri jindagi me aai, to baat ban jaaye"...

But what the silly girl sang had me running for my breath... She sang

"Aap jaisa koi meri jindagi me aai, to BAAP ban jaaye, oh ho oo BAAP ban jaaye..."

Hard To believe!

In the northern part of Quebec, among some of the oldest rocks on the continent, a curious ring of water surrounds a remarkably circular island. This is the site of Manicouagan crater; with a diameter of more than 70 km across its prominent rim (the outer shore of the lake), it is one of the largest and best exposed craters on the planet. Manicouagan was formed by a meteor’s collision with Earth more than 200 million years ago.
As a result of underground fluid pressure pushing the rock in the crater upward during a bout of post-impact equilibration, Manicouagan has a plateau in the center, rather than the characteristic depression associated with craters. The remaining, ring-shaped depression filled with water, creating the lakes Manicouagan and Mouchalagane.

EXAM-O-PHOBIACS

Well in the coming few days, people like me need to undergo a complete change as my EXAMS are approaching. Ah! The luxurious lifestyle,rather the couch-potato lifestyle needs to be paused for sometime. So I thought it better to prepare a list of few things that could be of help!

1. "Fuel Tank " coffee mug-Its the real "EYE OPENER".

2.Clock with no hands (it's always time to study)

3.Waving hand on a base - Now you won't have to waste valuable time waving goodnight to your friends when they leave

4. Butt Protector - An item which doubles as a frisbee and a seat cushion with words "I'm Working My Butt Off". You need something to protect this valuable resource while you are "working your ah, ah, butt off ."

5. "Midnight Oil". When you are "burning the midnight oil," what if you run out? So as an alternative keep a pack or two ready.

7. Picture Frame. For photo of the dedicated students(D.S). Notation on frame says, "When Found, Notify Family."

8. "Critical Information for this D.S " wallet card. Helps to remember anniversaries, birthdays, mothers phone #, last private dinner with partner, previously used excuses for coming home late, etc

9. A luggage bag containing pen, chiropractic treatment (if D.S broke their back ).

Well , the sixth point is something I cant write here, those who do forced study know it well .Its the essence to keep the momentum going and filter out any noises that might have been created in mind during the course ;> .

Technological Advances- A perspective

My life's getting hectic day-by-day and I fail to find a solution to this. I remember my guru saying that "There will be Days like this" but did he mention , there will be so many!

Ah!good old days, when people used to sit in their front porch, talking and watching the world go by.There were times when letters took a week's time to spread the word rather than few seconds through emails/sms. In this world of dfaxes, cellphones and computers a very hurried society is characterised by impatient workaholics whose nerves are on the edge and life's unknowingly empty.

not many people will be aware of the fact that the world famous music composer BEETHOVEN was actually totally deaf!!!beat that!!

Definition of success:

According to me, success is relative term depending on the environment one lives in.
· For some, its just enjoying ur life to the fullest by any means.
· For some it’s working hard and seeing their labor yield fruits.
· For some it’s marking their presence and contributing their lives in accretion of living condition of other people.

The order, quite apparently, appeals in an ascending manner w.r.t how actually it should be. I am damn sure, no one even thinks about the last aspect .Almost everyone has just the first definition scrapped into their ROM which is impossible to delete.

All those with this mentality, are pretty vulnerable to a low living style at their later stages where they will regret all their doings and impart the third definition of this ‘SUCCESS’ to their little near and dear ones. Definitely the most effective and dominant criterion is the third one but since it seems out the world…so there is a second one which I have coined.

As a child everyone’s taught some morals and values, which as we grow up, seem to be confined to books only. Yes the morals values that talk about respecting others, helping older people and all things which we all love to see imbibed in books. All what I see today is that we all don’t care about all these values. We seem to enjoy every part of their life at expense of their parents/Guardian’s effort. We desire all sorts of thing; want the fruit of their labor to be instantaneous and the efficiency of their work to be 100%. It’s after schooling, we get to taste the flavor of the real world and put to work what all we have learned so far. Some of us lead, and others lag behind. The simple reason according to me is our ‘programming’. Those of us who have been sincere take the lead and others follow.

With all the plethora of media/news/newspaper, all kinds of horrendous news are there. Some topics like road accidents, atrocities against parents in older age are quite common in dailies. What I feel is that all these have a direct relation with our feelings, our deeds, and more importantly how we look at the world. It may seem a bit odd, but if we follow the third aspect everything falls in right place with time, though of course it requires some patience and understanding.

Know the person you are talking to...

Past few days, I have been very keen on observing the people around me - at college or malls or metro stations or in the neighbourhood. There is a striking similarity between all of them! All of these people are more concerned about their REPUTATION rather than their CHARACTER. When I am at college, its obvious that the guys around got to be careful and defensive regarding their REPUTAION amongst the mass. You just try to badinage with them, and they are like your worst enemy. At malls/public places, I have observed a minor change in the behaviour of people- at crowded places they become even more concious of their Image/looks or in short try to behave in a sophisticated urbane manner.
You must have noticed that in a group, if someone does a good deed like helping someone on the road, everyone follows what he has done. But later , if a person is alone and the same situation arises, he will definitely ignore the situation nad move on. So this act of ignorance was nothing but a true reflection of that person's Character. In a group he helped just because others were helping and had he not helped, his Reputation would suffer.
So one's Character is something he actually/really is and one's Reputation is what merely others think of him. Also Character is what we actually do when we think no one's looking.

Mentality of People As I could Understand....

Phew! Past few years have taught me a great deal about the people, mainly about their way of thinking. Broadly classifying, I could make out three groups/types of people. The most annoying and the most easily identifiable group is the one who think they are capable of thinking.HA. just joking, this group basically can be called extroverts or the Egotists who think really very high of themselves. Whatever decision they take ,according to them is the most correct and viable one. You just cant argue them, they always want to have the last word. As Oscar Wilde says-"There is no use of arguing with an idiot, as the third person cant make out who is the ONE". Well a good thing about our system is that as u move up the hierarchy, percentage of these IDIOTS decreases. And as we all witness, these IDIOTS are the one who actually blame the system.

Well enough said for this group, the second group according to me compromises of the actual force behind the system. These are the people who are professionals, dedicated sincerely to their work , who don't speak for themselves but its their work that does all the talking. They are real achievers and make the system progress. First group tries to berate this one in vain.

Now a small majority consists of LEADERS who are really capable of transforming themseleves from first group to second group and vice-versa.

So the first group always think of defeating others.
Second group think of winning by their virtue.
The third one just want to lead and do good to others in the process

SUCCESS and SHYNESS

I wonder if in this world,success is confined only to people who are extroverts? I think absolutely not. In fact, I think that most extroverted people are often at risk through being so unaware of what is really going on with the people around them.As a result if they are extrovert and egotistical, they will not be listening.Their ears are open to listening only if someone is praising them and feeding their ego. So, they may have a soft underbelly in terms of achievement, simply because their ability to acquire knowledge, especially about other people, is limited.I think overcoming shyness is somewhat easier to overcome than being extrovert with an inflated, and misguided, ego.

Shy people, on the other hand, may quietly take in an enormous amount from simple observation that is beyond the perception of an extrovert who is obsessed with their own ego. Ideally, of course, a successful person and leader should be capable of being extrovert or introvert, depending on the circumstances and the need of the moment. A powerful extrovert who knows when to listen and when to delegate, and how to learn from the quieter people around him, is best geared to be a success in whatever he chooses. Throw in some modesty, and there you could have a great person who needs to prove nothing, because he will naturally attract and generate success.

A shy person can still be a big success in their chosen field, though, and may easily outstrip the extrovert in some.

One thing that I have learnt from my experiences is those who observe and listen more and talk less, can gain a position of strength. This means that even a genuinely shy person, the type who blushes easily and is reluctant to talk in company, especially new company, can become a strong person, in just about anything they choose.

I remember a quote," knowledge is power", and a shy introvert is in a better position to acquire knowledge than an extrovert.

What does it take, then for a very shy person to be that successful person they always wanted to be. They may only need one more ingredient to push them on their way. They need to dare themselves to take the leap; and when they do, they will probably find all the knowledge they have acquired over the years, will come to the fore and help them on their way to the top in their chosen field.
